Most all people smoke because they have become addicted to it.  Quitting smoking is extremely hard, I have heard that tobacco is more addictive than heroin.  I am one of the few that tried smoking because I thought it was cool. Then after a few cigarettes I though this isn’t cool!

Sarah Maus discusses how she quit smoking at Healing Laser Clinics of Lake Mary, Florida.

Laser stop smoking therapy

There are so many ways of quitting smoking since there just is not one method of quitting smoking.
People have a choice, sometimes they have to try 3 or 4 methods before they find the one that works for them. This just isn’t a man thing women smoke too!

What a wonderful market to introduce tobacco to when women were fighting for equal rights. Smoking had it’s equality! But to some in early days women who smoked were looked down on. They felt that is wasn’t lady like to smoke. Then came woman’s liberation  and more females started to light up! Cigarette companies even manufactured and advertised cigarettes they claimed were made for women! Cigarette companies advertised that instead of reaching for something sweet to eat light up a cigarette. Weight loss was a good marketing  ploy to get women to smoke, for those who had a weight problem.

With the television making it’s way into every household commercials advertising cigarettes even made smoking more popular. In the late 1970′s  cigarettes were no longer advertised on TV and the ads in newspapers or magazines had to state the Surgeon Generals office the warning of smoking.

Lung cancer has taken its toll on women and with smoking a woman’s life span can be 14 years shorter. If the women who smoke have  children than they are giving their children second hand smoke which can be very dangerous to the child! And what does it do to the unborn  fetus? There should be more women speaking up against cigarette smoking in countries where women are still fighting for equality.

These clips are from the BBC: Horizon documentary series entitled “We Love Cigarettes”. The advice Allen Carr gives is pretty damn good, it convinced me (a 5 year smoker) to quit cold turkey. It has been a couple months now and I’m still going strong. Update: It has been over one year since my last cigarette and I have never been tempted to look back. I really hope this simple advice has helped someone else. This was an interesting video of how Allen quit smoking. He figured out how the brain tries to trick you into smoking and counteracted those thoughts.

Why has man become addicted to tobacco? Tobacco is a plant that belongs to a group of plants called the nightshade. Early man used tobacco in religious and medicinal ways. Tobacco became very popular in Europe because they that it cured a lot health problems.  At one time tobacco was as good as gold for use as money.  Then in the 1600 someone started to realize that tobacco was not all that good and was hard to quit the smoking habit. Around the 1630′s it was illegal to smoke in public in the state of Massachusetts, the band was more to due with moral beliefs than any health  issues.
In the mid 1700′s a company in New York City started to make tobacco, cigars and snuff.  The company is still in existence, it is P. Lorrillard  which is the older tobacco company in the United States.
In the mid 1800′s nicotine in it’s pure form was discovered, it was stated that is is a dangerous poison and can kill humans.

In 1984 “Smoking and Health” was published.Soon cigarettes had to have on the package the health hazards they have. Cigarette ads were no longer published in magazines or on TV commercials.

Today all over the world people continue to smoke. It is now believed that tobacco companies knew the dangers of smoking, but yet continue to manufacture them, why? Because people still  buy cigarettes.

Over half the people shown on the programme quit smoking in this way. The equipment shown is produced by THOR and is used by most laser smoking cessation centres across the world. LLLT can also be used instead of needles for acupuncture and is ten times more effective than patches, gum or hypnotherapy according the results from two NHS trials in Scotland. www.thorlaser.com Many other clinics around the world also use Omega Laser equipment: www.omegalaser.co.uk Clinic in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK www.lifeprinciples.com Look out for LifePrinciples Laser clinics in Dublin, Glasgow, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, Cardiff, Cambridge and London (East, West, Central and South). Real acupuncture is just as good, but the beauty of laser is that its non-invasive, ie no needles involved. In the treatment, a light probe was placed on various parts of my body

stop smokingtreatmentWith the push today to get everybody to quit smoking, today a smoker can choose a wide range of stop smoking treatments of his own personal choice. With different choices of a stop smoking treatment coming out all the time, if one doesn’t work for you then another one may – or you can choose several types of treatment to work together.

But the best stop smoking treatment will be your own determination and will to want to quit – if you don’t want to, then the entire stop smoking aids together will not work. Once you decide to quit, and chose the date you are throwing away your last cigarette, the option you choose as a treatment is the one you are the most comfortable with: inhalers, patches, injections, pills, pills, or cold turkey. This can be natural or traditional medicine – with everything being a matter of personal preference or medical concerns.

The cold turkey method has an advantage over all other treatments, as the nicotine will be out of your system in just a few days. But the largest disadvantage is the withdrawals will be extremely intense and painful. But what happens is the body demands its maximum amount of nicotine that it has had over the years. Long-term heavy smokers use this method over all the others – about 90% of smokers will suffer through these first 72 hours to two weeks of exhausting and hard cold-turkey from nicotine to make the body 100% nicotine clean and chemical withdrawn.

And as you read this, you think of pain and suffering instead of a short period of withdrawal but of the 90% of smokers who use it, they have a larger chance of success than with the other stop smoking treatments. The body recognizes there will be no nicotine offered and the pain and withdrawal stress will disappear, as compared to a slow and easy treatment. The body knows it will eventually be getting some amount of nicotine, creating some form of chronic state of drug withdrawal. It is a matter of choice – two weeks compared to life.

If cold turkey doesn’t appeal to you, try one of the other popular stop smoking treatment for nicotine replacement therapy. It gives the smokers a wide range of products to choose from with each product releasing a small amount of nicotine into the body, negating the urge to smoke. Some of the nicotine products that have been developed to kill the smoking urge are: the nicotine inhaler, nicotine gum and the nicotine patch. Or the smoker can use a pill like Zyban to stop smoking.

Zyban prods the pituitary gland to release endorphins in the bloodstream, which, in turn, cause a positive upswing in the smoker’s mood. Generally, a Zyban course lasts 8 to 12 weeks and should be taken under medical supervision.

A few other unique methods is to quit naturally, using the time-tested Asian therapy of acupressure. In this therapy, silver needles are used to release energy inside the body while creating a sense of well being, assisting the smoker to combat withdrawal symptoms. Another way to combat withdrawal symptoms is to take laser treatment. The low intensity laser beam stimulates the release of endorphins, and kills the urge to smoke. Some smokers also use herbal cigarettes to give up the habit.

Besides this, the smokers can take the help of clinics or self-help groups that provide advice and guidance. Such clinics provide counseling to individuals who want to give up smoking. They conduct mind exercises to improve an individual’s will power and the desire to return to smoking. Hypnosis is yet another method that can be used to give up smoking.

Considerable self-discipline is needed for any of these treatments to work. More often than not, smokers give up smoking for a few days or a few weeks and then pick up the habit again. They need the support of family members and close friends during this troublesome period. To quit smoking and recover from the nicotine addiction is a period of readjustment of the mind and body. Over time, the body and mind combination heals itself and breaks free of the addiction, teaching itself to function without cigarettes or any form of tobacco on a dependency level.

The same way different people smoke and are addicted differently, they will also quit and recover in the same ways. Some can quit and walk away with no symptoms or problems, while others double over with pure intense physical pain with multiple symptoms. This is why there are so many different stop smoking treatments for assorted types of smokers. Know yourself and what works the best and the most efficient way.

Using Laser Beams To Stop Smoking

June 9th, 2009 by admin

Stop SmokingTo start smoking, you require the help of only one thing- a lighter or a matchstick. You can do it even without that. A fellow smoker with the burning stub will come to your help. Only when the issue of stop smoking gets priority over all others, for obvious reasons, there are several methods to assist you—or to confuse you.

Today’s so called successful methods become tomorrow’s failure method. Using laser treatment to quit smoking is considered to be one of the most effective smoking cessation methods. This method was introduced to the public only in the recent years and is considered to be a modern and innovative method for quitting smoking. It is trusted method because laser method is used in many other medical branches for various other types of treatment with success. But laser treatment is costly.

The principle involved in laser treatment is simple and scientific. Certain nerve centers can encourage changes in the body. Acupuncture, reflexology, use the very same principle in treating the patients. If pressure is applied on those points, you get the desired results.

Stop smoking laser treatment means the same. Those relevant points in your body are treated with low intensity laser beams. The smoking cessation in you has begun. You feel relaxed, as far as smoking cravings are concerned. The thing that is most liked about this laser treatment is that the results are announced immediately after the examination.
This is your first lesson in smoking cessation. Don’t you take it as the final guarantee.

Nicotine is such a powerful agent, that you can not confront and defeat it by laser therapy alone. Your psychological aspects of addiction are more intense than the physiological aspects. Laser deals with the physical aspects. One excellent virtue about the laser therapy is that it has no side effects. This is a great assurance. In this modern medical treatment, you are sometimes more worried about the side effects than the original disease itself.

So, you accept the laser treatment therapy, in your efforts to stop smoking. But, before that, you need to know some relevant information.

The treatment is very costly. Be prepared for it. Sometimes, you don’t get good results. So club this treatment, along with other types of treatments.

Finally, let your strong will power to quit smoking remain strong. That is the real laser beam!
